Adina Diaconu, BKin MScPT
Registered Physiotherapist
Meet Adina!
My journey into physiotherapy began on the soccer field as a youth, where my own experience with sports injuries and chronic knee pain first introduced me to the world of rehab. Those frequent visits to the physiotherapist sparked a fascination with how the body heals, leading me to pursue a Bachelor of Kinesiology at UBC followed by a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. Fast forward to today, having worked as a physio for over 10 years, I love helping my clients navigate their own paths back to peak performance with a compassionate, knowledgeable, and evidence-based approach. My background in personal training and kinesiology has always helped me to create effective, personalized, fun rehabilitation for every client.
What to expect during your session
My practice is rooted in an exercise-based approach with manual therapy to help restore imbalances and movement imbalances to not only promote healing after injuries, but also prevent future injuries. I truly believe the statement that “movement is medicine” and work with clients to make movement a part of their lifestyles and not just their “rehab”.
Certifications
TPI Level 1 & Level 2 Medical Golf Certifications, Dry Needling Certified, Acupuncture Canada Certified, Certified Professional Road Bike Fitter for Cyclists, Graston Certified, McGill Method Certified Practitioner
Specialties and areas of interest
I love treating any sport-related injuries, and having clients perform better than before their injury. I also have a particular interest in working with golfers to recover from golf-related injuries and help optimize their body-swing mechanics to improve their game.
Outside of the clinic
When I’m not at work, you’ll likely find me doing something active outdoors. Open-water swimming, hiking, biking, running, golfing, and paddleboarding are just a few of my top summer activities. In the winter, I love snowboarding and snowshoeing. Throughout this all, you are likely to find me with a nose in a book, a podcast in my headphones, or painting in my watercolour sketchbook that I carry with me nearly everywhere.
